Hi wher i can get the diagram of this awesome work ?!
In the description
Do you sell these? I can't find a working website.
Yes
@@GratuitousSets Do you have a website? The one mentioned in the description doesn't work.
This is very cool! What programs did you use?
Are you guys still selling puzzles like this?
Yep! Want one?
Doctor hable más sobre el psiliun, a mi me ayuda pero me causa dolor estomacal, está bien que lo siga usando.
For dummies from dummies? Great thanks UA-cam, I really wanted to see someone do it worse than me to give me advice so I can go backwards
Fair point 😂
Any updates from Mr. Johnson and company? Any new tidbits that you can share?
We are going to publish a series of NASA training videos we provided along with the equipment we built for NASA. Here’s a private sample. Pay attention to the explanation in the intro. The videos are designed to be mildly annoying to watch 🤣. NASA Training Film: CO2 Capture Device- CHAPEA Experiment ua-cam.com/video/MBZKrh5UV-Q/v-deo.html
you should wait atleast 3 to 5 minutes before using graining tools
Where is the heat?
We are using a “line bender” there is a heating element in that strip of plywood. You can buy them from plastic suppliers
Hey! What's the best way to get in contact with you guys? Your email addresses are bouncing back :)

"not that much!" Lol
I almost peed my pants I was laughing from hilarious…shock?
This was great! I was just trying to explain set walls after I described a memory of my youth stumbling upon the set wall storage of the X-files in riverview hospital. I was familiar with musical theater but I remember being so mind blown it was the exact same in tbe movies 😂❤ this is actually great for theater kids new to set design as well!
LOL -I'm glad you enjoyed it! I know that sometimes in theater they will use canvas sometimes, too.🤓
A long time ago, in a galaxy... anyway, I made a little fin out of Styrofoam, hung a deep socket under it, and it looked great in my kitchen sink. Never went any farther.
Very cool!
I built a whole bunch of 2x4 walls using drywall for an art gallery, and I have no idea why I didn't think about doing it the set design way. It seems so obvious in hindsight.
Maybe next time...😂
Shoot it with clear coat? As in paint? Would it be possible to coat with tung oil? As in bringing a plain jane rifle stock to life.
It might work if the tung oil were allowed to completely dry
An interesting method and result, thanks for the movie!
Glad you liked it!
what's the difference between wood stain or paint with glaze to do that effect and which one is better? or is it the same?
Glaze is slightly more translucent and can give a tiny bit more working time. Gel stain (also called "wiping stain" is easy to buy off the shelf. Glaze is less common and must be custom mixed. Both can be used with this technique but, glaze is water based so, you'll need to clearcoat in water based polyurethane. With the gel stain, aerosol can clearcoats can be used. BTW, this is the BEST question I've been asked on this video! Thanks! 👍👍
We followed your video, we watched numerous videos on a faux garage door, with you sharing and meticulous preparing a completed job we are proud of, thank you for sharing
Wow, thank you!
Great vid!
Glad it was helpful! 😁
Useful
Glad to hear that!
i'm not sure if you ever mentioned it, but how thick is the acrylic sheet you are bending?
That was 1/4"! I hope it was helpful 😁
The video capture is cool. BTW, I tried going to your website but I got a 404 error.
I'm really sorry about that, the credit card that paid the domain expired and I didn't notice! My email is mark@gratsets.com 😎
Cute doggo
That was Harold! Best dog EVER. 😢
I appreciated that the flynide liquid contained within the device does not, in any way, inhibit the vapors of the cylindrical housing which would destabilize the entire mechanism. If this were to happen, the fissures could (theoretically) create an unstable environment for molecular displacement in the quantum exasperator's engine, which would undoubtedly cause a catastrophic event to occur. Good design here 👌
It does contain thiotimoline but, it's less than a microgram so, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
That alien looks ready to probe the next unsuspecting guy next to an open window. Amazing stuff.
Lol! Prepare the probe! It did a decent job with the facial data but I need to give the A.I. a clean plate so the set doesn’t get blurry around the character.
yoooooo this rocks
Thanks! Btw, that airlock door in the background weighs like 70 pounds. If it swings open, it would tip the whole set over, sandbags and all! I need to add a few sandbags before something bad happens. 🤣
that is neat. The system seemed to like the spacesuit better than the alien the weird blur broke the uncanny valley.
I should’ve taken a clean plate and fed that in so that the A.I. didn’t have to do so much work extrapolating the set behind him. I think the actual shot will be done on greenscreen because the alien will be being viewed through a futuristic microscope so I think it won’t matter.
Super nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice! What software are you using if you don't mind me asking?
Wonder Dynamics 🤓
Thanks!
Love it!!!
Wonder Dynamics is pretty impressive- I got approved for the closed beta...
😲
I think we can make this work... 😎
🤘
Danke Schoen!
And now there are four crew members in chapea that will be using your awesome boxes for the next year.
I watched them entering Mars Dune Alpha live. Waste Processor shoutout! We are waiting to hear from Jose and Raina regarding approval to release the training films.
Being that this is for “dummies” wouldn’t it be necessary to not assume we dummies know what is a line bender? 🤷🏼♂️
You've got a good point there! I'm guessing you were able to figure it out. It's a heating element that heats a line where the bend will take place. If you call Tap Plastics (the company) and ask for one, they'll know what you're talking about.
Loving your videos, thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge, what epic things you create!
Wow!! That's incredibly kind of you to say! I'm glad you're enjoying them. Hopefully it provides a bit of inspiration😁
Great instructional video, timeless. Would be great if you added titles with conversion to metric system, because it'll be easier for the rest of us without continuously converting mid video on a calculator, hehe. Cheers!
Noted😁
me, about to get wood ready for hiding the seams for a photo studio “don’t fill if you’re doing stills it’ll just mess up the wall” dude thank you so much lol news I can and will use 😅
It's funny. We never thought of this until we opened our studio and they were OUR walls. Suddenly we started thinking about how to protect them and extend their life 😂 -LOVE your username btw👌
This is a *great* tutorial, I would love to do this for an 'indoor set' for my business but the 'brick panelling' you speak of is *way* more expensive down here in Australia... I may have to find a way to recreate the bricks first. But this looks perfect, thanks so much!
If you can call me on WhatsApp, I can tell you how to how to make the brick pattern from scratch... 😁
Our number is in the "about" section on our UA-cam channel page...
I love the change in intensity and colour as you continue to pump the bellows, absolutely wonderful!
Thanks, Richard!! In this section of the game, you're in the ice house at a butcher's shop. You need to retrieve a key from a block of "ice". You must raise the temperature to do so, but how?
do you use 1x4 instead of 2x4 lumber for your full size walls? or did you say you used plywood cut into strips? Trying to decide what to use for the framing materials on a temporary wall I'm building in my house, for dividing a room where the primary goal is to make one section as soundproof as possible.
It's 3/4 inch plywood that we cut down to 2 5/8" strips. Nominally, it would be close to 1x3 but we save a bunch by cutting it down ourselves, and plywood is much stronger than pine or poplar 😁
That is not a graining comb. It's a rocker grainer. I remove the grainer from the handle before using. You can squeeze it together before dragging it across the surface.
Do you guys sell the designs for these kind of things? Love your videos but I’m uk based and not the best at CAD!
Give us a call on WhatsApp- I'm sure we can figure something out! 214-529-0045
Aye...😊
Oi... 😁
Where can you get those types of acrylic panels?? are the patterns and lines made on request?
We make them ourselves so, yes we can engrave the acrylic however you like😁 Give me a call if we can help!
Not first! :( but great video! :D glad the mold worked out!
So close! lol
That was an interesting iterative process. Not the way I would have gone but I am glad it worked out in the end.
It's all about the journey. And the real greeble is the friends we made along the way... This project was a culmination of using several new-ish tools. Specifically the resin printer (we'd only had it for a month or so when we did this) and my getting more comfortable with Fusion 360. I'd like to do a "Lessons Learned" sequel to this video where we can go into better detail. I kinda rushed this one to print because we've been quiet for too long, and (even without the B-roll) the footage was in the can.
Hi guys, , great video once again. I have a question: how do you factor in the costs of experiments when planning a project? I often don't have the luxury of conducting extensive experiments due to their high cost for my clients.
Excellent question! General answer: if a project is going to require a skill/process/technique/etc that we don't know, we take a wild guess at how long it's gunna take to figure out. UA-cam is our living master class. More accurate answer: I'm a little ADHD. So I'm *always* looking for the new (to us) and cool (to me). Sometimes that's directly applicable. Other times not so much (for the time being, at least). Specific to the 3-part mold: We'd just gotten the new (to us) resin printer. So I figured I could design and print the cable-passes. Fusion 360 + 3D printer is an awesome combo. I had the idea that I might be able to directly print the mold. There was almost some Sunk Cost Fallacy, but in the end it worked. New ways to use a new toy.
@@matthewcharles7574 Thanks Matt for the explanation!
Good question!
